i moved to sac from santa cruz a few years back--there i was a regular at the 418 Project which hosts a weekly dance space similar to a "church" experience on sunday mornigs. I am interested in working with others to organize a regular gathering including live or dj music to move to...
this could go in any direction really...shared alter responsibilities or snacks, heart-circle check-ins or informal/less interactive...
we get to make so many choices in this life...I chose to ask you to join me in spiritual expression through dance.
namaste.

Re: spiritual /expressive dance--interested in starting a "dance church"
Wed, August 23, 2006 - 1:09 PMI’m intrigued. What exactly are you thinking? I have danced with Gabriela Wroth/ Wave style dance groups but nothing in this area. I’ve been trying to organize a regular drum circle in Davis so I have some place to dance Let me know what you come up with. -

Re: spiritual /expressive dance--interested in starting a "dance church"
Mon, August 28, 2006 - 1:58 AMi dont know to much about whats going on around here --places, participants, etc...
but i recognize a need for community especially along the lines of healing, expression and enlightenment. doing so through dance is powerful and fun.
i believe an evening thing would work but the one i went to in santa cruz was sunday mornings. i look forward to continued dialog on this and soon...dancing

Re: spiritual /expressive dance--interested in starting a "dance church"
Mon, August 28, 2006 - 8:57 AMI am hoping to start a 5 Rhythms-like experience (not led - just open, free-form dancing) at The Bo Tree in Davis. We've tried dance jams before but it has been pretty small in attendance. If I could get a few other very enthusiastic dancers to spread the word this time, it might just catch on. Sunday mornings would be perfect. It would probably get started in January, since it might take a while to get the word out and January is when people like to start things. I'll post it when we get something together!

Re: spiritual /expressive dance--interested in starting a "dance church"
Mon, September 4, 2006 - 8:52 PMsounds great! maybe a good idea to do something less regular to build momentum. like an event for the harvest, equinox or solstice. hopefully get people out to take note then everyone will be buzzn by january.
just a thought. am not a davis kid myself but am all for heading over there to build community, encourage self-expression through dance and share my understanding of the art of healing.
